The Disease Prevention and Control Division improves the health and wellness of Pasadena and surrounding area residents by conducting epidemiological investigations and outbreak control for known and suspected cases of communicable diseases. This Division also provides immunizations for vaccine preventable diseases and educates the public on safe health practices in order to decrease the incidence of communicable diseases in the community.
Disease Prevention and Control activities include: public health field nursing to investigate cases of communicable disease and to counsel and educate infected individuals; tuberculosis control; sexually transmitted disease counseling and treatment; HIV/AIDS outpatient medical services; public health laboratory testing and analysis; travel immunizations; and childhood lead poisoning prevention and treatment.
