CITY OF PASADENA ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY
LOCAL
HIRING AGREEMENT WITH KAMRAN GROUP LLC.
Pasadena residents registered in the city of Pasadena’s local hiring
database will be referred for construction job opportunities in a
variety of trades through a voluntary local hiring agreement between the
city and Kamran Group LLC for the Fair Oaks and Walnut Hotel Project.
A mixed-use project that will be developed over the course of two and a
half years by Kamran Group at the northwest corner of Fair Oaks Avenue
and Walnut Street will include a 200-room luxury hotel, 110
condominiums, premium retailers, celebrity chef restaurants, spa,
nightclub and large public courtyard.
David Golkar, managing member of Kamran Group, intends to maximize local
hiring for the project and assist the city of Pasadena in its efforts to
add residents to its database of available workers.
“We are a part of this community and want the community to be part of
our project,” said Golkar. “Employing local residents provides us a
tangible opportunity to demonstrate that commitment.”
The project’s construction management firm, Fullscope, and its
entitlement consultant, Aamir Raza, are supportive of the city’s added
initiative to identify subcontractors willing to hire Pasadena
residents.
On Sept. 21 the city conducted a forum to discuss the inclusion of
subcontractors to help achieve the goal of hiring Pasadena residents on
construction-related jobs. Since the forum, several of the
subcontractors who attended have entered into memorandums of
understanding with the city to participate in its First Source Local
Hiring program, which is administered through the City Manager’s Office.
Other types of hiring agreements are being negotiated with developers,
public agencies and training institutions on behalf of Pasadena
residents.
