STUDENT ART WALL EXHIBITION AT CITY
HALL
A juried exhibition of artworks by talented Pasadena Unified School
District students will debut at an opening reception on Saturday, Dec.
15, from 3 to 5 p.m. outside the council chamber on the second floor at
Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave.
The exhibition, which will be hung on the new student art wall adjacent
to the council chamber, represents the importance of art in Pasadena’s
public schools.
Sponsored by the city of Pasadena and the Pasadena Arts & Culture
Commission, the wall displays artwork created by about 30 PUSD students
from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Titled “Bridging Boundaries: Student Art Connecting the Pasadena
Community,” the exhibition is the second in this year’s series and will
run from Dec. 15 through May 2008. Works were chosen by an Arts &
Culture Commission panel and community arts experts.
“The exhibition demonstrates the city’s commitment to a collaborative
alliance with PUSD and Pasadena’s plethora of arts and culture
organizations,” said Rochelle Branch, public art program manager. “The
student art wall illustrates the city’s enduring efforts to accomplish
the goals of access and equity as outlined in the Cultural Nexus Master
Plan.”
