RECREATION SUPERVISOR TO LEAD
MINORITY SOCIETY
Darrell Walker, recreation supervisor for the Pasadena Human Services
and Recreation Department, has been elected president of the National
Recreation and Park Association’s Ethnic Minority Society.
He was installed last month as the 2007-2008 president at an awards
banquet during the annual association’s annual conference in
Indianapolis.
Walker has developed and managed a wide range of recreation programs
from aquatics to after-school programs and youth sports. He is active in
state and national recreation and parks organizations and in regional
groups including Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation.
National Recreation and Park Association’s Ethnic Minority Society was
formed in 1971 to productively represent the park, recreation and
related leisure service interests and rights of minorities while
participating in the overall effort of the park and recreation
profession.
Walker holds a degree in physical education and social work from Pacific
College and has been with the city of Pasadena since 1990. |
