NEW NEIGHBORHOOD ACCESS TO
MCKINLEY SCHOOL GROUNDS
There’s a new playground for children, thanks to a joint use agreement
between Pasadena Unified School District and the city of Pasadena.
Starting Saturday, McKinley School, 325 S. Oak Knoll Ave., will open its
yards during non-school hours for all children and families from the
neighborhood.
The improved playground adds more park facilities and turf for residents
to enjoy. New park amenities include a basketball court, fencing,
walkways, picnic tables, benches and waste containers. The park also
includes an existing playground, large turf area and parking lot.
During the school year, the facility will be open to the public on
Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. During
summer, the site will be open to the public on weekdays from 4 to 8
p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Costs of upgrading and maintaining the grounds and equipment are shared.
In October, a shade structure will be added to the site, followed by
renovation of the
turf area.
