PASADENA PUBLIC LIBRARY ANNOUNCES
SPANISH LANGUAGE AND BILINGUAL MATERIALS
Pasadena Public Library has added a number of Spanish language and
bilingual English/Spanish materials to the collection with a $25,000 grant
received in 2004 from the California State Library.
Based on neighborhood demographics and current library services, it was
determined there was a need for expanding the Spanish language collection
for all ages, particularly at the La Pintoresca, Santa Catalina and
Villa-Parke branches. Pasadena Central Library and the Hastings Branch
Library have books funded by this grant as well.
In 2006 a new collection of audio Spanish language books on compact disc
will be added to the collection. Spanish is the original language in which
the full-length fiction books were written. The audio collection will be
available at Pasadena Central library and the La Pintoresca and
Villa-Parke branches.
“This grant has greatly expanded the Spanish language collection to better
serve the Pasadena community,” said Brigida Campos, collection development
librarian. “It helps the library meet the increasing informational and
recreational needs of this population.”
