DISASTER PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM
REPLAYS
ON 55 KPAS AND PASADENA CITY WEBSITE
“The First 72 Hours: Do You Know Your
Neighbors?” is replaying on 55 KPAS and the city of Pasadena website.
The program, hosted by KNBC-TV news anchor/reporter Beverly White,
details how to prepare an emergency kit; turn off gas and water;
determine the skills and special needs of neighbors; make an emergency
plan and evacuation plan for your home, business, organization and/or
neighborhood; access emergency services provided by schools, churches
and non-profits; and more.
It also provides information about the Pasadena Emergency Response Team
(PERT) training program offered to neighborhoods, businesses, churches
and organizations by Pasadena Fire Department. PERT includes search and
rescue, assessment of medical needs and other skills critical to the
first 72 hours after a disaster when first responders may have to take
care of other top-priority needs.

at 11 a.m., Tuesdays at 1 p.m., Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., Thursdays at 2
p.m., Fridays at 11:30
a.m., Saturdays at 11 a.m. and Sundays at 2:10 p.m.
Special guests featured in the video include Pasadena Mayor Bill
Bogaard, Pasadena Fire Chief Dennis Downs, Pasadena Emergency
Preparedness Coordinator Lisa
Derderian, Pasadena Police Chief Bernard Melekian, Longfellow Elementary
School Principal Peter Pannell, PERT training volunteer Tim Kelly, Rev.
Kenneth Baker of Pasadena First AME Church, and several local children
and teens.
The program was produced by the Leadership Pasadena Class of 2007
Community and Safety Team in partnership with the city of Pasadena,
Charter Communications, local businesses, non-profit organizations and
residents.
