PAULINE KAMIYAMA NAMED
PASADENA PUBLIC ART COORDINATOR
Pauline Kamiyama has been appointed the city of Pasadena’s public art
coordinator.
Kamiyama’s experience includes seven years in public art programs at the
city of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Public Art Division
and Metro Art.
She has worked on several key projects, including Los Angeles Police
Headquarters, Los Angeles River Master Plan and Expo Line. She was
public programs coordinator at the Japanese American National Museum.
Pasadena's public art program provides opportunities for art in public
places in city facilities and private development. Funded primarily by a
one-percent ordinance, many commercial and civic buildings now include
artwork by nationally recognized artists.
“I look forward to weaving my experience and interest into the rich
cultural fabric the community has created,” said Kamiyama. “I hope to
further strengthen public art based on the Cultural Nexus plan, such as
introducing a temporary art program and launching the Neighborhood
Enhancement Mural Program.”
She replaces Rochelle Branch, who was promoted to manager of the
Cultural Affairs Office. |
