CITY OF PASADENA SADDENED BY DEATH
OF FORMER PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTOR

Former Pasadena Public Health Director Wilma Allen passed away Wednesday, June 6. She retired in March after 17 years of service to the city of Pasadena.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 12, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Angelus Funeral Home, 3875 S. Crenshaw Blvd. in Los Angeles. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Faithful Central Bible Church, 400 W. Florence Blvd. in Inglewood.
The family appreciates gifts in her memory to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr., Suite 105, Danvers, MA, 01923.

Allen began her employment with the city as public health administrator and was appointed public health director in 2000.

“Wilma Allen played a key role in securing significant funding for Pasadena-based public health programs,” said City Manager Cynthia J. Kurtz. “She provided exceptional leadership to the advancement of public health in our community.”

“Wilma was well loved and respected in the city organization, the community and throughout the public health profession statewide and nationally,” said Dr. Takashi Wada, Pasadena public health officer. “We were deeply saddened by the news of her passing.”
