Despite ongoing efforts of the Police Department and the City Prosecutor’s Office, there aren’t always enough city resources to pursue every public nuisance in every neighborhood. Through the Safe Streets Now! program the Human Services and Recreation Department, along with the Police Department and City Prosecutor’s Office, helped guide residents in certain areas through the process of documenting nuisances and then taking negligent property owners to Small Claims Court for allowing drug dealing, prostitution, excessive noise, litter and other issues that denigrate the quality of life in those neighborhoods.
