Mobility and Accessibility throughout the City
dozens of events – including a speaker series, MoveAbout Tours, youth activities
and a community open house – more than 3,000 residents, business owners,
students and community leaders were asked their opinions on land use and
mobility issues. Participants weighed in on what they love most about Pasadena,
what they’re concerned about and what they want for Pasadena’s future. It was
all part of the first phase of the effort to update the General Plan, the
“blueprint” that will guide the city’s growth over the next decade and beyond.
The second phase – creating the update – will take place in 2010.
The third annual Bike Week Pasadena in May promoted bike riding as a viable,
healthy and sustainable transportation choice. With the goal of making Pasadena
one of the most bike-friendly communities in the nation, a preliminary draft of
the Bicycle Master Plan was completed and the public review process began.
