     Lateral or Entry Level Police Officer 

    Salary:   $75,670 - $97,843*
    (*Top Step salary effective July 1, 2017)

    *Lateral appointments are hired at a higher Step based upon training and experience. 

    Lateral Incentive Pay - $7500.
    Laterals receive 40 hours of sick leave. 
    Laterals will receive an expedited background investigation.
     

    Education Pay (Highest Level applies)
    AA or AS Degree - $175/mo MotorsBA or BS Degree - $550/ mo
    Advanced Post Certificate - 12.5% added to base pay.

    Retirement
    3% at 55 (Classic PERS member)
    2.7% at 57 (New PERS member)

    Uniform Allowance - $850/yr
    Vacations - Up to 20 days per year 
    Alternate Work Schedules - 3/12, 4/10, 9/80 
    Bilingual Pay - $140/mo 
    Tuition/Fee Reimbursement - Up to $850/year when working towards Bachelor's Degree or higher
