NORTHWEST COMMUNITY PLAN

The Northwest Community Plan was created at the request of the community to address issues such as housing, economic development, employment opportunities, infrastructure improvements, human and social services, public safety and the adequate provision of information on services available to the residents in Northwest Pasadena.

The purpose of the plan is to articulate a “Northwest Strategy” that will effectively upgrade and restore Northwest Pasadena as a viable community within the City of Pasadena where residents can live, work and grow in a manner consistent with the opportunities afforded in other areas of the City. To date, the City of Pasadena, through the Northwest Community Plan, has identified and addressed the following functional elements:

The Northwest Community Plan has also provided a general direction for proceeding with a “Five Year Northwest Revitalization Strategy” that has substantially improved the existing conditions of the community and generated an enhanced quality of life for its residents.

The Northwest community, in cooperation with the private sector, state and federal agencies, has been instrumental in the implementation of various redevelopment and revitalization projects of commercial and area neighborhoods. Such projects include: the Downtown Business District, Lincoln Avenue, Fair Oaks Avenue, Villa Park, and Lake/Washington.

The City of Pasadena Northwest Commission would like your input on current community needs. The results of this needs assessment will assist the Commission in allocating funds for the 2007-2008 Community Development Block Grant Fund.
