REDEVELOPMENT Lake/Washington Redevelopment Project Area
The Redevelopment Plan for the Lake/ Washington Project was created to enable area residents and business owners/operators to revitalize commercial and neighborhood projects and ensure the successful growth and improvement to meet the changing needs of our time.
The Plan called for changes in under-productive land uses through planned and coordinated developments and the protection and buffering or screening of commercial uses from residential uses or incompatible uses whenever feasible; the provision of land for public uses and facilities, including among others, civic, cultural and social uses, utilities and open spaces such as streets, parking areas and other public grounds and space around public or private buildings and improvements; the creation and expansion of employment opportunities for those in the Pasadena labor market, including employment in reconstruction and execution of the Redevelopment Plan. Included in the Plan were also the removal of impediments to land disposition and redevelopment; the achievement of an environment that reflected concern for architectural and urban design principles and a minimum of residential dislocation while insuring of a well designed and economically viable land area for development and provide dislocated benefits and assistance to eligible displaced residential and non-residential occupants. Today, the Lake/Washington Redevelopment Project Area has secured an ongoing local investment that sustains a healthy job market, provides quality amenities for residents in several housing development projects and has created stable tax revenues for the City due to new businesses that have moved into the area. The efforts of the Northwest Programs Office involve regular contact with property owners, business representatives, local institutions and residents alike. PCDC Assisted Projects (1998-2006)
