Property Information
The Permit Center offers a variety of information regarding property in the City of
Pasadena. We have permits dating back to the late 1800's as well as construction plans
dating back to the 1950's, while some of the information is provided through the County Assessor's Office. We also provide
geographical information on special districts and maps are provided where possible.
Future technology plans of the City include
the ability for customers to retrieve specific property information online. In the
meantime, you may visit the Permit Center to find out about

| Building Permits (Prior to 1922) |

Permits prior to 1922 are stored in our archives. Our
Historic Preservation staff will provide research on a property, (date built, original
owner, architect, contractor, cost of construction, and date of additions), for a fee.
Please fill out the Request for
Historic/Architectural Research form and return it to the Permit Center, either
in person or via mail.

You may request to review a plan. To request a plan, please
call with the address of the project and the type of construction. Projects which are
currently under construction are free to view. There is a fee for those projects already
complete. Plans can be viewed in the Permit Center only, they may not be removed from the
premise. The following types of construction plans are kept on permanent record at the
City of Pasadena:

- Commercial/Industrial Additions
- New Multi-Family Residential
- New Single Family Residences in the Hillside District

Advance Planning files consist of project information about
various projects. There is no cost to review the files, however there is a charge for any
copies. These files include:

Development Plans ( a procedure eliminating the need for multiple Conditional Use
Permits for multiple or phased projects at the same location. The process also ensures an
orderly and thorough review of your project by the City as well as receiving input from
the neighborhood impacted by the proposed development ) . Listed below are current Master

Specific plans contain detailed development standards,
distribution of land uses, infrastructure requirements, and implementation measures for
the development of a specific geographical area as outlined in the General Plan.
Transit-oriented development, pedestrian-oriented development, and mixed use development
with housing over commercial, is included. The primary purpose of a specific plan is to
provide a mechanism to target implementation measures toward specific planning area while
preserving and enhancing areas of historical or architectural significance. Specific plans
have been identified for the seven areas outlined below.
