A grand prize winner was chosen from each of three grade level categories.  Each grand prize winner was awarded a $25 gift certificate from Vroman’s Bookstore. 
 

Six limericks were awarded Honorable Mention and their writers won a $10 gift certificate from Vroman’s Bookstore.  

Grades K - 2

Winner - Fiona Stewart (tie)
There once was a girl named Kentucky
And one day she felt quite lucky
She took a test
And she beat all the rest
And she won a rubber ducky!
Winner - Elizabeth Nail (tie)


There was a young pig dancing
She went to her trough prancing
She ate her swill up
And drank from her cup
And left the pig pen laughing

Honorable Mention - Tina McDaniel


Chocolate Chip cookies are yummy
They make me feel good in my tummy
I like to eat them when they crunch
I eat them at breakfast, dinner, and lunch
Even in bed my bed sheets are crumby

Honorable Mention - Julia Nail

 


There once was a young girl smiling
Because she dreamt she was flying
She read a good book
About captain Hook
And when Peter was arriving

Honorable Mention - Elizabeth Nail

 


The blue moon was full and bright
It gave off such a shimmering light
The moon said aloud
“Why, I am so proud!”
He smiled and laughed with delight


Grades 2-3

Winner - Johnny Edwards

 


I once had a dog named Slappy
Whose ears were long and flappy.
He never would frown
When I was around,
And that's why he makes me happy!

Honorable Mention - Mady Martinez

 


There once was an Irish town
Where they thought all the power went down
They searched for some light
(although It was night)
Oh, that poor Irish town.

Honorable Mention - Ani Boyadjian

 


There once lived a young cute cat
It almost caught a mean rat
It liked to drink milk
Its fur is like silk
The cat had a blue tall hat

Honorable Mention - Dasia Brown

 


There once was a boy named Nick
Who was always very sick
He told his friend Nell
To help him get well
And so he got better quick


Grades 5-6

Winner - Autumn Lee

 


There once was a boy named Rook
Who didn't know how to cook
He always burnt toast
Don't mention the roast
His sandwich? I can't bear to look!
