ome to the system's Armenian language collection, today's Santa Catalina Branch building was completed in December, 1930. The branch participates in Pasadena's School Library Cooperative Project with Longfellow School and serves local preschools classes.

Santa Catalina Branch Collection

The overall collection has approximately 49,000 items. In addition to reference materials, books on tape and large type books, Santa Catalina also has smaller special collections including: Literacy, Careers, Young Adult and Paperback Classics. The children's collection is strongest in the areas of folktales, curriculum-related nonfiction, and Spanish language materials. For adults, the branch has a good basic collection of mysteries, self-help books and popular fiction.


Meeting Room

The meeting room with tables and chairs will accommodate up to 32 people. This room is free to groups who do not charge an admission fee or restrict admission on the basis of membership.


Special Features

Santa Catalina's collection reflects the diversity of the surrounding neighborhoods. The branch has special collections for children and adults in Armenian and Spanish. The periodicals collection includes Armenian newspapers, as well as several African-American and Spanish language magazines.

The branch has a Foothill Employment and Training Center computer kiosk for use in finding job and training opportunities.

Santa Catalina Branch is proud of its Preservation Corner. This collection of books and materials highlights the architectural Bungalow style evident in neighboring houses. Preservation Corner is sponsored by the Bungalow Heaven Neighborhood Association, Historic Highlands Neighborhood Association and the Pasadena Public Library.

Santa Catalina Branch Library is pleased to offer free wireless Internet access to patrons with appropriately equipped wireless devices. A valid Pasadena Library Card and PIN are required to access the library's wireless Internet services. School Services
In the 2005-2006 fiscal year, Santa Catalina offered 562 programs for children with attendance of 17,504. Of these, 242 were class visits with total attendance of 5,377. Santa Catalina also has public computer workstations and a homework reference collection.
