Description
The Career Services Division administers the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which is designed to provide vocational training and job placement assistance to economically disadvantaged youth, adults and laid off workers. Training includes clerical, medical occupations, computers, truck driving, construction trades, and other job fields that correspond with the needs and job availability of local employers. Under the leadership of the Foothill Work Investment Board, services are provided to six cities: Pasadena, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Monrovia and Duarte.

Mission Statement
To secure paid employment for persons who are unemployed, underemployed or displaced from jobs, by providing quality assessment, education, employment, and job training services to local residents and employers, with a primary focus on persons who meet the federally-established eligibility requirements. The goal is job placement and retention of workers in training-related positions in which they earn a living wage, and to meet local employers' needs for qualified employees.
