The Pasadena Police Department is proud to participate in the “26th Annual National Night Out” (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and your local Target Stores. This year’s event has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, 2009. The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, business and neighborhood watch groups and local community officials. Worldwide, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out 2008.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods ‘celebrate’ NNO with a variety of events and activities such as: block parties, cookouts, visits from local police departments, parades, exhibits, flashlight walks and youth programs. NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.
Be sure your community group is part of the nation’s largest annual crime/drug prevention event. To plan for members of the Pasadena Police Department to visit your NNO event, Register by July 24 , 2009, by calling your Pasadena Police Department Community Services Section at (626) 744-7659 or send and e-mail aramos@cityofpasadena.net.
