        Mayor Bill Bogaard celebrated with Pasadena dogs and their owners at the opening of the Alice Frost Kennedy Off-Leash Dog Area at Vina Vieja Park. The park provides 2.5 acres of lawn area for dogs to play off-leash, complete with watering stations, bag dispensers for owners to clean up after their pets, ample trees, benches, and even two recycled fire hydrants.

        Readers of all ages had fun constructing hand-made kites in a competition at the Rose Bowl to honor the book The Kite Runner and kick off the One City, One Story reading celebration.

        Mayor Bogaard supports partnerships of public and private resources to help area service organizations bring needed holiday meals to some of Pasadena's residents. Operation Gobble, Gobble, distributes free turkeys and side dish supplies the weekend before Thanksgiving. The event is sponsored by the Mayor, Ralphs/Food 4 Less, Valencia & Company Public Affairs and the Rose Bowl Operating Company.

        Mayor Bogaard lends a hand in loading supplies to area service organizations that prepare needed Thanksgiving meals to some of Pasadena's residents. Operation Gobble Gobble takes place annually, the weekend before Thanksgiving.

        Pasadena Girl Scout Troop No. 145 sang a song and helped with the food distribution at the 5th Annual Operation Gobble Gobble, providing Thanksgiving meals to area human service organizations.

        400 frozen turkeys were distributed at the Rose Bowl during the 2007 Operation Gobble Gobble.

        Mayor Bogaard welcomed over 10,000 participants to the Rose Bowl for the 2008 Los Angeles County 5K Walk/Run Race for the Cure, to raise funds for the Susan B. Komen Foundation. In remarks at the opening ceremony, the Mayor affirmed the importance of the contributions of the Foundation in the fight against breast cancer.
