The Pasadena community is invited to a public meeting Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m. at La Casita del Arroyo, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd.
The meeting will include the presentation of the Draft Open Space and Conservation Element of the General Plan, a two-year community effort to develop public policy guidelines on how the city of Pasadena protects open space and implements sustainable practices.
The combined element, or chapter, will be the plan for protecting and acquiring natural open space, enhancing Pasadena’s urban forest, expanding wildlife corridors and habitats and conserving natural resources.
The element also includes policies on air quality, solid waste reduction and environmental education; an inventory of publicly and privately owned land, protected and unprotected; priorities for open space protection and acquisition; and recommendations for changes to the Pasadena Zoning Code to help distinguish among a variety of types of open space ranging from parks and playgrounds to wildland areas.
