The community is invited to help assess Pasadena’s critical needs and funding priorities Thursday, July 14, at 6 p.m. in the Donald R. Wright Auditorium at Pasadena Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St.
The Human Services Commission seeks community input to fund programs that will provide human services for the years 2012 to 2014; the Northwest Commission requests proposals annually for non-service activities such as capital improvements, housing renovation, property acquisition and economic development.
The commissions make recommendations to the Pasadena City Council for the organizations that should receive funding and at what level. The results of this and subsequent needs assessments will determine funding priorities.
The city of Pasadena provides funding to community organizations through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program, Emergency Shelter Grant Program and the city’s Human Services Endowment Fund Program.
Survey questionnaires will be available in English, Spanish and Armenian. Completed surveys and other written responses will be accepted through Aug. 8. Surveys and other correspondence related to the needs assessment can be sent to Ron Hillary, Pasadena Human Services and Recreation Department, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena CA 91103.
For more information call Hillary at (626) 744-6942 or Northwest Manager Lola Osborne at (626) 744-6879.
