The Pasadena Police Department’s Air Operations Section will host an open house Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Benedict Heliport, 2175 Yucca Lane in Altadena.
Displays and demonstrations will include police helicopters, armored rescue vehicle, mobile command post and police motorcycles. Fingerprinting will be provided for children. Police personnel will be on hand to greet visitors and discuss police employment, forensics, traffic and community services. Food and beverages will be provided.
SWAT and K9 demonstrations will take place at noon and 1 p.m.
“We are excited to open our doors and increase the public’s awareness and education about airborne law enforcement,” said Police Chief Phillip L. Sanchez. “The Air Operations Section has a proud history of crime fighting and providing public safety services. We want the public to know what we do and why air support is so critical to our mission in today’s world.”
To reach the heliport, take the Arroyo/Windsor exit off the 210 Freeway. Go north on Arroyo Boulevard, then turn left on Weimar Avenue to Yucca Lane.
