  • About Technology

Strolling through Old Pasadena past the Honda design studio and Idealab; heading south toward Huntington Hospital and Huntington Medical Research Institutes; east to the California Institute of Technology (Caltech); and north towards the San Gabriel Mountains and the Art Center College of Design and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL); one realizes that Pasadena is home to an impressive mix of world-renowned research institutions and emerging technology-based companies that make the city an ideal location for innovative entrepreneurs to start new business ventures.

In recognition of the unique challenges that technology companies face—from prohibitive equipment costs to specialized laboratory space and infrastructure requirements—the City of Pasadena has put in place a number of operational and development incentives to support local research and development efforts.

From direct support of the Pasadena Bioscience Collaborative wetlab incubator to Enterprise Zone tax credits, business license fee waivers, permit fee reductions, and much more, Pasadena’s Economic Development Division is committed to maintaining and enhancing the strength and diversity of the city’s high-tech business community.
