    Business License Grace Period Program

The City of Pasadena is a participant in the California AB63 program in which the
State Franchise Tax Board discloses business related income tax information to municipalities.  The cities, including Pasadena, match their business license database records against the State’s to identify business entities that are operating in the City of Pasadena without a valid business tax permit.  Engaging in business without first obtaining a business license is in violation of Pasadena Municipal Code 5.10.010.  Continued unlicensed operation of your business, may also subject you, as the business owner, to additional fines, penalties and/or civil remedies.

For a limited time only, a grace period has been established in Pasadena for non-compliant business operators to comply with business license requirements.  The
grace period will be offered to businesses located in both commercial and residential areas that do not have a valid business tax permit.  The grace period will allow business owners that do  not have a current business tax permit to pay only for the current year’s fee, if all applicable business license associated forms are completed and submitted to the Business License Section by the specified due date.  Anyone that does not apply within the grace period will be assessed 100% penalties per year on the original amount of the fee plus interest accrued at 1.5% per month on the unpaid balance on all prior years’ fees.  You may also be subject to civil remedies.

Applications may be submitted by mail or in person at the Business License Section located in City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. Room N106.  If you mail your forms they must be received on or prior to the indicated due date.  Only the U.S. Postal Service postmark will be accepted as proof of mail date.

Please remember that the grace period is a limited time offer and all applicable forms must be received on or prior to the indicated due date.
